We lost another part of the family last night. Haley was a Sheep dog / Chow mix. He was huge. He was 12 years old and getting pretty sick. We noticed that saturday morning he wasn't eating as well. Usually you fill up his bowl and he eats it all as soon as you give it to him. Sunday he had what looked like a lot of sleep in his eye and getting pretty laze. Because Harley was such a big dog he had arthritis in his back legs real bad, so Jeremy and I tried everything to get the dog to take some medicine and it wouldn't work so right then we knew something was really wrong and so I called the vet yesterday and took him in. He was so weak that he wouldn't even lift his head up. Harley was suffering from kidney failure and some infections. The doc told us we could treat him, but it would very costly and being that we were dealing with a very large breed dog and he was old that his survival rate was under 25%. Jeremy and I went ahead and decided to put him to sleep so that he didn't have to suffer anymore. It just hit him so sudden. Just last week he was fine and we took him for a small walk down our street. He can't walk much, but he needed to get out of the backyard for a few minutes. I got Harley from my cousin Kim when she found out she was pregnant with her daughter Kaylee . Harley was 6-9 months old when I got him and just a little fur ball. Kim and Scott couldn't keep him in a apartment so I asked my parents for him. Harley had a wonderful life and I will really miss him. I told him to go take care of my mattie girl. I don't have any pictures of Harley with me so I will look for some and post them later.
